Good to Goat

August is "National Goat Cheese Month" (like you didn't know). There are about 335,000 milk goats in the US; some in every state. (Wisconsin leads the pack with about 40,000 head.) Impressive numbers for an industry that was almost nonexistent before 1979, when Laura Chenel became America's first commercial producer of goat cheese. (courtesy of Gourmet Magazine)

A few picture updates:

Megan is in dance camp this week. She demonstrated the robot dance at home. At the end of the dance the robot dancers are turned off with a remote. I have to get one.
Jonathan had three baseball games last weekend. Friday night his All Stars team beat South Portland American. Saturday his travel team won. On Sunday the All Stars Team lost to Falmouth. The whole team played well. Jonathan played well with a Sacrifice RBI and 2 walks on Friday. Sunday in one at bat he was safe and advanced the runner with a hard infield chopper and caught a high fly ball in Left. After a substitution he coached first and helped warm up the pitcher.

Today we went over to Team Goewey and saw the Grave Digger. Then Lia Toyota to see Brian Vickers' #83 and Kyle Busch's #18. Friday we saw Carl Edward's #99 Subway car at the new Subway on Rt. 7.

Friday we went to the Valleycats game. We had great seats in the front row next to the visitor dugout. They played the Oneonta Tigers. Before the game one of the Oneonta players game Oliver a ball. Then the Valleycats had an autograph session on the field and Oliver had all the players and manager sign the ball. Cameron had a team poster signed. The guy in uniform talking to "southpaw" the valleycats mascot it the hitting coach for Oneonta his name is Luis Quinones. He played for the Albany- Colonie A's in 1983. He came over and gave Elliot a ball in between innings. The game was crazy with all kinds on nutty plays. The Vallecats got destroyed 13-5. After the game there were fireworks. Elliot fell asleep during the fireworks.

Not mentioned during the broadcast but according to the IndyCar series notes: "New York Governor David Paterson is the honorary starter of the Camping World Grand Prix at The Glen."

Glad to see the blobs favorite Governor is enjoying the perks of the office while he can.

Our first dinner in the new apartment in Redding, compliments of the previous resident: a half gallon of home brew and weight lifting supplements. Just kidding! We went to a bad Mexican Restaurant instead. Temperatures in the low 100's this weekend, but cooling off at the beginning of next week. -Rachel
Happy birthday, Christine!
