What's wrong with this picture?

And a pile of tree......

Apex was quite excited!

She found the stump!

Now that the inverted bathtub festival is over, it's time for the real racing season to begin. Wheels Down Winter Testing started today at Sebring. Times

Notable entries are TBA posting a time in a Porsche RS Spyder and the PTG Panoz in action with it's usual drivers.

Bell Motorsports announced that they will bring a GT1 Aston to play with the Corvettes. Cyndy's father heard second hand that Bobby Rahal's outfit will actually run the team here, though no name on the car.

White from the former PWL will be joining the Barwell Aston Martin GT2 effort.

Another F1 Reject for Rocketsports. A second car is expected there.

Franck Perera is also close to a deal (even though he didn't inherit the 2 million). Walker, Conquest or Forsyth

Newman Haas driver announcement is scheduled for tomorrow.

This is Paul's most triumphant moment to date. Cyndy will have to work hard to top this.

Here are some things to think about before the 24 starts on saturday. DP cars that have very good driver line ups (for the most part) that should be strong. SAMAX #2 and #11 both loaded with drivers, except the obvious one. Also the Alex Job #23, but we knew that already. I predict these three DP cars don't make it halfway. #03 Vision, #31 Matt Connely (lucky to get 6 hours) and #7 Sigalsport. I left my underdog favorite RVO off that list. One entry with an unsual pairing of drivers is the #61 AIM car, Colin Braun and Andrew Ranger. No love for Colin over at Krohn!

Now for the GT class. In the Synergy #81 Robert Doornbos, Speedsource #70 Raphael Matos. How many Champ Car driver in all Paul? 4-5? Robin Liddell and Randy Pobst in the #57 Stevensen GXP.R, No Porsches for those two? Also Max papis and Lawson Aschenbach in a #72 GXP.R. The following cars are the favorites in this class #64 and #67 for TRG great lineups and #86 and #87 for Farnbacher Loles. Those cars are going to be tough to beat especially the #86 and #87. I would usually include the #66 with Andy Lally but his co-drivers are not that strong. The following cars have no chance what-so-ever #31 Matt Connely (I see a theme there) and the #52 Mastercar Ferrari. The #31 car will cause at least two wrecks, one involving a top 10 DP.

I also predict that Speedtv will fill the air time with no less than 6 hours of NASCAR on FOX/Speedtv ads and 4 hours of PINKS ads.

I set up my train while Rachel was out grocery shopping. She got upset.

I had to go sit in the cave.

Daisy

Friday, January 18, 2008

I think we should name her daisy, daisy the deer.

Not sure if the Alex Job drivers actually drive or just enjoy the atmosphere. I think it is all about being mentally prepared. RVO, need I say more. Matt Connelly motor sports, enough said. That car used to be fast. That was before Oliver did the chassis set up and Cameron drove it.

Our new bed is scheduled for delivery on Saturday morning. Rachel says that we should have coffee ready for the truck driver. I've never heard of such a thing. Dad, has anyone ever had coffee ready for you when you made a delivery?

The Jake's Corner movie will be screened at the Sedona Film Festival at the end of February. No info yet on when anyone else can see it.

This morning at 5:30 we got a call from Northeastern informing us that all classes were cancelled for the day due to inclement weather. Cyndy and Paul were also called. I got thinking, if every student, faculty member and employee received 3 calls that would be upward of 100,000 phone calls.

Ultimately, our power was off for 40 hours last week. It's so nice to have a generator.

Thursday, January 10, 2008

26 hours without power at "Brownsey Camp" and still off after yesterdays wind. The generator is still running without problems.

Paul Tracy still at Forsythe.
The team also has hired Kenny Siewick (Newman Haas veteran) who will be running PT's car instead of Neil Micklewright. Nemick will still be running the other one or two cars.

So that makes three confimed drivers with Rahal, Servia, and Tracy. A second car announced at Conquest and Rocketsports is hiring, so possibly a second car there too.

ALMS news seems to be changing by the hour so check Mariantic and The bear guy. The GT2 field looks even better than 07.

Paul, Does this DP look better or worse than your photo? My guess would be T. Krohn at the wheel. The #40 photo is for Kate, yeah! Also two ex-BMW drivers try and learn how to drive a chain restaurant.

Cal made a valiant effort against UCLA yesterday. It was a serious defensive game with the score 36-25 at the half. In the second Cal came back strong and closed the gap. It was very exciting until about five minutes left when Cal lost all their energy and UCLA had a four-point play off of an intentional foul. Still, Cal kept pace in the second with 34-33 (UCLA-Cal) for the half. Not too bad of a showing for an unranked team playing a top ranked team with a large fan presence.

Thursday it was -20 at dawn and 1 at mid-day. I love January! Don't forget to vote- it's good practice for November.
Could Daytona Prototypes get any uglier?
Yes. Oliver Gavin is in the 75. But don't let the real Oliver associate him with this car.

Only 22 DPs testing on Friday, but it looks like a very competitive field. There were 39 GT cars, but the same cannot be said for them.

Most important news of the year: Everybody's favorite Catalonian, Oriol Servia is confirmed at PKV for this year.

12+ inches of rain so far in the Santa Cruz Mountains in the past 24 hours. With a series of storms headed in, more rain is predicted everyday for the next week.
I managed to make it back, splitting Wednesday's snowstorm in the NE and today's massive rainstorm in northern California.

The A's are continuing the liquidation of their talent with the trade of Nick Swisher. Eric Chavez (3B) thinks there will be a lot of young players (apparently, Swisher is old at 27) on the roster for next season, but also that the A's will still try to get a deal on Bonds so they can sell some tickets.

Cal basketball pulled off a surprise 92-82 conference win against #22 USC yesterday. Maybe they can use the momentum to do something against #5 UCLA when Rachel and I see them on Saturday.

Back from the Capital One Bowl in Orlando with Emily. The Michigan Wolverines were the heavy underdogs in the media but they came out with an impressive victory over the Florida Gators. After hearing from everyone down here all season long how southeastern football is superior to the rest of the nation, and hearing all month long how Florida was going to destroy Michigan who was undeserving to even be playing against the Gators, this was the most satisfying victory I have ever been witness to (well maybe alongside Penske beating Audi in Detroit).
