I went to Bishop, CA for a conference.

The place I stayed was pretty clean.

This is where water is diverted from the Owen's River to the LA aqueduct to suppy 30 to 80% of the drinking water for the City of Los Angeles. This is the first year since 1913 that water has been allowed to continue past the structure and flow down the Lower Owen's River (where the coots are) instead of directly to LA--and not because LADWP wanted to.

Looking south, down at the Owen's Lake playa, with the Sierra's on the right, the White Mountains on the left and mojave desert shrubland in the middle.
